THE EYE LEVEL

A lot of individuals tend to hang artwork too high. Keep this in mind: On center, 57′′. This implies the center of not the hook but, the art piece which should be 57 inches from the floor. Used as a standard in many galleries and museums, this 57-inch standard is to reflect the specific human eye-height. It also gives a sense of equilibrium in the home since all of your artwork will be aligned along the same visual axis.

This rule does have a few exceptions: If your ceilings are particularly low (less than 8-9 feet), divide the vertical length of your wall into quarters and hang your work in the third quadrant up from the floor. If you're hanging art over a sofa, allow about 8-10 inches above the back of the sofa, even if this violates the 57-inch guideline. Take note of the space between your artwork and the point where the wall meets the ceiling.

DETERMINE THE WALL'S SHAPE

Another typical blunder we find is art that is far too tiny for the area. Big art might be a daunting purchase (and an expense), but in general, the art you hang should have the same shape and orientation as the wall it's aiming to occupy.

GALLERY WALL

A gallery wall might be one of the most appreciated and admired characteristics of a place. This style works best when you mix and match different sorts of wall hangings, such as pictures, prints, paintings, text pieces, and even wall sculptures.

Begin with a star piece to structure the composition when making a gallery wall. Hang this piece like you would a solo piece, with the focal point at eye level, then work your way out from there. A suitable distance between artworks is five to ten centimeters.

AN UNCONVENTIONAL APPROACH

Do you lack the time and patience to create a salon-style gallery wall? Organize in a unique way and install wall art in unexpected areas. Don't restrict yourself to the bounds of a room! Layering various pieces may create a fascinating and complex effect. If you have a huge piece of art, consider resting it against the wall rather than hanging it for a more contemporary and casual aesthetic.
