The youngest of four children, Kathy Levin was born on the east side of the state in Redford where she was introduced to creativity and artfulness at an early age. Her mother, Shirley, was a talented cook and a masterful seamstress, sewing clothing for her children and herself along with fashioning textiles to decorate their family home.  Her father, Ralph, a Marine and Military Police Officer, had a love for literature and art; writing warm short stories, reading, and creating illustrations. Kathy and her family moved to the East Grand Rapids when she was eight years old where she grew up boating, slalom skiing, fishing, and swimming with her family. Her three brothers were competitive and loved badgering their little sister; needless to say she developed a quick wit and competitive spirit that has served her well.

After graduating from Central Michigan University, Kathy began working for Meijer as a manager in various home goods departments where she met her husband Larry. Together with their two children, Ryan and Chelsea they moved to Rockford in 1994, where they welcomed their third child Jessica in 1995. Kathy spent time weaving her talents into the fabric of the community’s schools, churches, and Arts Committees through volunteering and mentoring. From spending time making Halloween costumes for her children’s elementary school parties to sewing costumes for RHS Theater productions, creating décor and organizing events for graduation parties and Rockford Arts Events/Galas to creating centerpieces for her friend’s and children’s weddings, Kathy has always been creatively involved with her family and community.

Between her hobbies; sewing, pickle ball, reading, cooking, boating and crafting, Kathy and her husband Larry, of 38 years, spends time with their three children and two grandchildren.

From painting seasonal and printed floor cloths and creating floral arrangements, to restoring vintage jewelry and re-purposing/painting antique furniture, she truly enjoys creating one of a kind pieces that preserve and update the past for the next generation to cherish and enjoy. Kathy’s design philosophy not only reflects on these vintage pieces as part of our history and culture but uses modern theories and principals of design to incorporate the warmth of the past with the form and function of today. Using color, pattern, shape, and material to create balance, she pays close attention to proportion and scale of a space to best highlight architectural features and curate personalized spaces for her clients.
